The Canadian Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA) is proud to announce the integration of Automate Canada and many of its members into the CTMA community, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of Canada’s manufacturing and technology sectors.

This strategic move reflects the changing landscape of advanced manufacturing and reinforces CTMA’s commitment to supporting innovation, competitiveness, and long-term industry growth. By bringing together leaders in tooling, machining, automation, robotics, and advanced technologies, CTMA is strengthening its position as a unified voice for the future of Canadian manufacturing.

“For decades, CTMA has proudly represented the tooling and precision machining sectors,” said Robert Cattle, executive director of CTMA. “Today’s manufacturers are evolving rapidly, and automation, robotics, and smart technologies are no longer optional—they are essential. This integration allows us to better support our members as they adapt, innovate, and compete on a global stage.”

The addition of Automate Canada members will create new opportunities for collaboration, networking, and knowledge-sharing across industries that are becoming increasingly interconnected. Existing CTMA members will gain greater access to automation expertise, robotics solutions, and emerging manufacturing technologies that can help improve productivity, efficiency, and workforce development.

At the same time, new members joining from Automate Canada will benefit from CTMA’s long-standing industry advocacy, educational programming, government relations, trade initiatives, and strong manufacturing network across Canada.

“This integration represents a natural evolution for both organizations and reflects the future direction of manufacturing,” said Dave Fortin, Automate Canada. “Automation, robotics, and advanced technologies are driving the next generation of industry, and by joining forces with CTMA, we are creating a stronger and more connected network that can deliver even greater value to members. Together, we will better support Canadian manufacturers as they modernize, innovate, and compete globally, while opening the door to greater collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and new opportunities across Canada.”

The integration also reflects CTMA’s broader vision for the future—one that embraces digital transformation, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, automation, robotics integration, and advanced manufacturing technologies as critical drivers of economic growth and global competitiveness.

“As manufacturing continues to evolve, associations must evolve with it,” added Cattle. “CTMA is committed to ensuring our members have access to the technologies, partnerships, and industry support they need not only for today, but for the future.”

Moving forward, CTMA plans to expand its programming, events, partnerships, and educational initiatives to further incorporate automation, robotics, smart manufacturing, and emerging technologies into its mandate and member offerings. This evolution will also be reflected in CTMA’s communications and industry publications, including future issues of CTMA View Magazine, which will feature expanded coverage of automation, robotics, advanced manufacturing technologies, digital transformation, and innovations shaping the future of the industry.

This announcement signals an exciting new chapter for CTMA and its members as the Association continues building a stronger, more innovative, and more connected manufacturing ecosystem across Canada.
