More than 170 members of Canada’s precision metalworking community gathered at the Lamplighter Inn in London, Ont., for the Canadian Tooling & Machining Association’s (CTMA) 2025 Annual General Meeting & Dinner — one of the Association’s most successful events to date.

This year’s AGM was especially meaningful as members of the Canadian Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (CMTDA) joined CTMA for a combined celebration, strengthening collaboration and connection between the two organizations.

“Bringing CTMA and CMTDA together created an incredible atmosphere of energy and partnership,” said Robert Cattle, executive director of CTMA. “It was a true reflection of how our industry continues to grow through collaboration and shared purpose.”

The event featured the election of CTMA’s 2025–26 Board of Directors, welcoming Rob Forstinger (FBTinc) and Ted Rosts (Densmore Tool & Die Works Limited) as new members. Louis Jahn (Jahn Engineering) will continue to serve as President for another term.

CMTDA also elected its new President, David Andrews, general manager, Mazak Canada, along with its Board of Directors during the event, reflecting the Association’s ongoing leadership and commitment to advancing Canada’s machine tool industry.

“My focus will remain on supporting both our industry and our education partners,” said Katie Turton, executive director, CMTDA. “Together, we will continue to champion Canadian manufacturing—driving innovation, fostering talent, and ensuring our sector remains strong and competitive at home and around the world.”

The evening also celebrated the next generation of skilled trades professionals through CTMA’s 2025 Apprentice Awards. This year’s recipients included Dylan Kettlewell (Integrity Tool and Mold Inc.), Austin McCue (FDF Race Shop Inc.), Derek Boere (Armo Tool), Noah Ocampo (Massiv Die Form), and Brandon Silveira (Armo Tool), who received CMTDA’s Top Apprentice Award.

A highlight of the night was an engaging keynote presentation by Yan Markson, world-class mentalist and perception strategist, whose talk The Power of Perception explored how mindset and perspective can transform performance in business and life.

CTMA also recognized Matt Lyle, manufacturing engineering teacher at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, as Trades Ambassador of the Year for his exceptional mentorship and promotion of careers in the skilled trades.

The Association was pleased to welcome new members Lyndex-Nikken, Grant Synergy, Allied Machine and Engineering, and Epicor, and extended gratitude to event sponsors including Answer Precision Technologies, CMTDA, BDC, MNP, GoEngineer, Grant Synergy, and many others whose support made the evening possible.

“The AGM truly reflected the spirit of our industry — community, craftsmanship, and pride in what we build,” added Cattle.
